As an Atlassian solution partner, Run by Ideas is well-versed in the use of agile methodologies and Jira software. However, it's important to understand that while these two terms are often used interchangeably, they are actually quite distinct.

What is Agile?

Agile is a project management approach that values flexibility and adaptability over strict planning and adherence to a predetermined plan. Agile teams prioritize delivering working software quickly and regularly, and they do this by breaking down larger projects into smaller, incremental pieces that can be completed in short time frames known as “sprints.” Agile teams also place a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and customer feedback.

Jira

Jira, on the other hand, is a software tool used to support agile teams in their work. It is a project management platform that helps teams track, prioritize, and manage their work. Jira can be used to plan, track, and release software, as well as manage and report on bugs and other issues.

Whilst this may seem overwhelming and software focused, we encourage businesses who are not software focused to consider Jira as a tool to help manage repeatable processes, define workflows, and capture data.

What we think

While agile and Jira are often used together, they are not the same thing. Agile is a way of working, while Jira is a tool that can be used to support that way of working.

At Run by Ideas, we are experts in both agile methodologies and Jira software. We help our clients implement agile practices and use Jira to support their work, enabling them to deliver high-quality software quickly and efficiently.

If you’re interested in learning more about how Run by Ideas can help your team work more effectively using agile and Jira, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to discuss your needs and how we can help.
